No. We have no affiliation with the University of Michigan. We are a separate nonprofit organization that supports student-athletes at UofM through Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities to create transformational community impact.

Yes. Hail! Impact, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation organized in the State of Michigan. Hail! Impact filed its application for tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code in March 2023 and received its determination letter in September of 2023. 

Subject to applicable tax laws, donations to a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization qualify for tax deduction. Hail!’s application for tax-exempt status was approved in September 2023. Tax-exempt determinations, when issued, are retroactive to the nonprofit's formation date, which for Hail! Impact is March 2023. Please consult your tax advisor for specific questions around tax deductibility.  

Our program connects student-athletes at the University of Michigan with Qualified Nonprofit Partners in the Ann Arbor-area for charitable service and engagement opportunities. Our partners benefit from the work provided by the student-athletes and our student-athletes benefit from their exposure to the critical missions of our partners.  

Additionally, student-athletes participate in the Leaders and Best educational seminar series providing critical skills in the age of NIL and personal growth strategies for life beyond college. Participants must complete a final deliverable describing the impact of the Hail! NIL Program on their personal story.  Student-athletes earn an equal quarterly stipend in connection with their successful participation in the Hail! NIL Program.

We partner with a select group of Ann Arbor-area nonprofits with critical missions that we believe will benefit from the charitable service provided by our student-athletes and who are committed to providing a transformational experience for our participants.  Each Qualified Nonprofit Partner is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization that meets our program requirements. Importantly, each of our partners are excited and committed to furthering their missions through the Hail! NIL Program.  If you have suggestions for new partners, please contact us. 

Participating student-athletes will provide charitable service and engagements to our Qualified Nonprofit Partners ranging from mission training, onsite events, tailored programs designed to integrate the student-athletes into the day-to-day work of the charities to participating in marketing, personal appearances and raising awareness for the missions and services provided by our partners. 

Hail! Impact is funded entirely by donations from supporters of Michigan Athletics who value contributing to NIL opportunities for student-athletes in a transparent manner that is founded on charitable service and augmented educational opportunities. 

Hail! Impact takes extreme pride in being a fully volunteer-operated organization. With no salaries, ownership stakes, and minimal overhead, we ensure that every dollar raised is maximized for community impact and direct support to student-athletes - with no fees from Hail! Impact. We stand unique as perhaps the only nonprofit in the country focusing on name, image, and likeness, operating entirely on a pro bono model. 

Upon submission of your donation, you will receive an email receipt. This receipt will serve as the official documentation related to your donation for tax and other purposes.
